Clarets in cup action tonight

Steven Hewitt scored first pen in the shoot out win

We've made it through to the last four of this competition, one we've won on a number of occasions over the years, with home victories against Morecambe and Oldham.

The first of them was an easy 4-1 win against Morecambe back in October when Ryan Noble scored twice along with goals from Steven Hewitt and Jamie Frost. We followed that up with a penalty shoot out win against Oldham after the game ended 1-1 with Ross Wallace scoring our goal as he got in his first game on his way back to fitness from knee surgery.

Wallace missed a last minute penalty in the game but we had no problems in the shoot out, scoring all four through Hewitt, Cameron Howieson, Jason Gilchrist and Joseph Mills.

Bury, meanwhile, have won once at home and once away, or sort of. They were drawn at home against Accrington in the first round but went through on a walkover to win an away tie against Blackburn in the quarter-final.

That game was played at Blackburn's training ground at Brockhall, rather than Ewood Park, two weeks ago with Bury the shock winners. Richard Hinds gave them the lead early in the second half but it was 1-1 going into stoppage time.

With the game set for penalties they won it through a Temitope Obadeyi goal which at least meant we weren't facing an all ticket game tonight with police helicopters and segregation.

We've no team news, as yet, from either camp but it's likely they won't be too much changed from last time out.

Bury's team at Blackburn was: Reice Charles-Cook, Marcus Poscha, Temitope Obadeyi, Richard Hinds, Nathan Cameron, Andy Procter, Matt Cook, Scott Burgess, Lewis Young, Ashley Grimes, Navid Nasseri.

Burnley's team at Leigh for the Under-21 Cup game against City was: Danijel Nizic, Cameron Dummigan, Alex Coleman, Tom Anderson, Luke Conlan, Micah Evans, Nathan Lowe, Luke Gallagher, Cameron Howieson, Steven Hewitt, Jason Gilchrist. Subs: Callum Jakovlevs, Jack Errington, Luke Daly, Jamie Frost, Ntumba Massanka.

The winners will face Wigan or Bolton in the final, but the Lancashire FA are still to confirm the venue. Those two teams will meet in the other semi-final in two days time at Wigan Robin Park Arena with a 2 p.m. kick off.

Kick off for our game tonight is 7 p.m. Admission to the Bob Lord Stand is £3 for adults and £1 for concessions but all season ticket holders of both clubs will be admitted for £1 on production of their season ticket book.
