Clarets draw Rochdale

James Craggs - scored in both rounds for the Clarets
It gives the lads a real chance to gain revenge for the most undeserved of 1-0 defeats we suffered at their hands in September. The goal came right at the end of a game we'd dominated only to be thwarted time and again by an outstanding display by the 'Dale goalkeeper.

Rochdale won through to the next round with an impressive away win at Rotherham, but their league form is not good and that win at Gawthorpe remains their only victory in twelve league games this season.

Burnley weren't the only team to hit five in this northern half of the draw. Carlisle were the other side to go nap with a comprehensive 5-2 win over Chesterfield but the big shock of the day came with Bury's 4-2 home defeat against Hartlepool. Bury lead the North West Conference of the Youth Alliance League and were expected to go through.

There were some big scores in the southern section of the competition. Colchester and Brighton both hit five away from home, against Bristol Rovers and Plymouth respectively whilst Wycombe too the day's honours with an 8-0 win over Hereford.
