Clarets could face Morecambe or Chesterfield in Alliance Cup

Last updated : 06 November 2012 By Tony Scholes

The Walsall game has now been scheduled for Wednesday 21st November, two weeks tomorrow, with an 11:00 a.m. kick off at Gawthorpe, and the next round will be played on Saturday 1st December and, should we get through, will be away from home.

Our game was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch at Gawthorpe, and it was one of four ties called off, the others being at Blackpool, Fleetwood and Morecambe as the wet weather took its toll.

In those games played, unlike last season, it was the North West League that came out on top against the North East League when teams from each league faced each other. There were seven such ties with four won and two lost and a further one lost on a penalty  shoot out.

The big scoring game of the day came at Accrington where the home side beat Doncaster 5-4 and two other clubs, Carlisle and Macclesfield, hit four in winning their away games at Burton and Rotherham respectively.

There's a return to league action this weekend with Burnley at home to Morecambe. Those fixtures can be found after the cup results and draw.
