Clarets closing gap in Alliance

That's taken us two points closer to the top with Wrexham now seven points ahead of us although we do have five games in hand on them. Meanwhile Carlisle remain four points in front of us after they beat Tranmere yesterday afternoon.

It really is tight at the top of the league and it will be one of the top three that go on to win it with none of the other sides close. Things might just be a little clearer after this coming weekend's games with the top two meeting with Wrexham having home advantage, although the Welsh side also play tomorrow at Preston.

Burnley's was the biggest winning margin on Saturday but yesterday Rochdale, fresh from their draw with Wrexham two days earlier, went to Morecambe and hit the home side for four.

The only other winners were Preston, who won at Port Vale, and the three remaining games all ended in 1-1 draws.

Burnley travel to Walsall this coming Saturday and the game kicks off at 12 noon. That's an hour later than the usual kick off time. A win there would guarantee we would be closer to the top as we keep an eye on the result at Wrexham.

Finally a word for Ben Hoskin. The defender has been out for some time with injury but returned a week last Saturday as a substitute. Unfortunately he's suffered a set back and is once again on the sidelines. Best wishes to Ben for a speedy and full recovery back to fitness.
