Once City had beaten us they were always going to remain top because of their goal difference, but even so Carlisle travelled to Blackpool and gave the home side a hammering. The game was played at the half a ground and the visitors were incredibly three goals in front after just seven minutes through Gary Madine, Conor Tinnion and Michael Burns.

They totally dominated the game and it was a surprise they had to wait until the second half before they added any further goals. Jeff Smith got one and Madine added a couple more to complete his hat trick. At the other end Jake Hobbs scored a consolation for a strong Blackpool side.

Rochdale recorded a win against bottom club Accrington. Everton youngster Tom McCready, on work experience with 'Dale, scored the first. The home side equalised through trialist Jonathan Lynch with four minutes to go but the Rochdale winner came from Josh Brizzell just ninety seconds later.

Former Burnley apprentice Rob Turner scored the only goal as Preston beat Morecambe 1-0 and in the remaining game Bury and Tranmere drew 1-1. Jay Ashcroft got the Tranmere goal.

There are just two games next week with Burnley looking to return to winning ways against Tranmere and a push closer to the top two with our games in hand. This game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start at Accrington.
