Burnley to play pre-season game at Hyde

Last updated : 11 July 2013 By Tony Scholes

The match is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the clash between the two clubs in the FA Cup. That came in November 1983 when a first and only Burnley goal from Malcolm Waldron and a Kevin Reeves penalty gave us a 2-0 win at Turf Moor.

Hyde were the home team for that tie but they won their bid to get the game moved to Burnley  for financial reasons and it attracted an attendance of 7,723.

They were Hyde United back then, but the club dropped the United in 2010 and reverted to their original name which was used until 1919.

This time there is no switch of venue and the game will be played at Ewen Fields on the last day of this month with a 7:45 p.m. kick off.

Hyde have no confirmed prices for the game at this time.

The fixture has now been added to the Friendles/Key Dates page on the site which can also be found via the Clarets Latest drop down menu.
