Burnley back to next to bottom in youth league

Carlisle, Accrington, Wrexham and Preston all kicked off the day behind us but all ended it above. Carlisle were behind us on goal difference and although they were beaten at home to Accrington they moved ahead of us on goal difference with them only losing 1-0.

That result saw Accrington go three points above us and Preston, who kicked off next to bottom went from two points behind us to a point ahead with their win against Fleetwood, a surprise result against one of the front runners. Wrexham moved above us on goal difference with a 1-1 home draw against Port Vale.

We've now won two of our seven games and that's something we've not been used to at this level in this league over recent years, but we are not one of the better sides in this league now.

The two at the top remain. Shrewsbury were above Tranmere on goal difference but National League club Tranmere took advantage of their game in hand, beating third place Blackpool to move three points clear at the top. Tranmere's lead over third place is now seven points but there is a cluster of clubs below the top two with Walsall in third place just two points ahead of Wigan who have moved up to seventh after their big win against us.

We play Bury next, but that's not until a week on Saturday. There are just four games this weekend with Shrewsbury getting the chance to catch Tranmere again with a trip to Wigan while Tranmere sit and watch.

All the results from last Saturday are below along with this week's fixtures, Burnley's goalscorers and the current league table.
