There was defeat for Oldham too and that means Carlisle have now moved up into third place in the table following their win over Bury. Carlisle have dropped only two points since we beat them on the opening day of the season and they now sit eight points behind us with a game in hand.
On a day where there were almost four goals per game Preston were another team to hit four. They'd won only once previously but went above local rivals Blackpool in the league after a 4-0 win against them.
Biggest scorers of the day were Tranmere. There were nine goals in their game against Morecambe with the Wirral side winning 6-3.
Finally well done to both Chester and Macclesfield who both secured their first wins of the season against Shrewsbury and Stockport respectively. It has given both of them a move up the table.
After winning at home the Clarets are back on the road this coming weekend when we travel to Morecambe to take on the side next to bottom in the league. The results, and the next set of fixtures are shown below.
