Blackpool miss chance to close gap

Wes Fletcher - leading goalscorer
A win for the Seasiders would have seen them go within a point of the leaders but they fell to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Wrexham and remain four points behind and have now played a game more.

There were no other games of any real significance although Shrewsbury yesterday gave themselves a chance of moving off the bottom of the league. There are four clubs right down there in Morecambe, Rochdale, Accrington and Shrewsbury and the Shrews recorded a 2-0 victory at the Fraser Eagle to move within a point of Accrington.

Shrewsbury's next game will be this coming Saturday at Gawthorpe when the Clarets look to get back to winning ways having lost on Saturday to Oldham and followed that up with the Lancashire FA Youth Cup defeat at Wigan yesterday when Wes Fletcher and Rob Turner scored the Burnley goals.

It is one of five remaining fixtures for the Clarets. Three of them, against Shrewsbury, Port Vale and Wigan, are at home whilst we are still to travel to Carlisle and Bury.
