Blackpool heading for Alliance title

Three goals for Ntumba Massanka

Blackpool sit top with a points per game of 2.48 with Oldham remaining in second place on 2.20 points per game, but, in real terms, Oldham are now eight points behind with four games remaining.

If they were to win all four it would leave Blackpool, who have won 16 of their 21 games to date, needing five points from their last three game.

Although both Rochdale and Walsall remain in with a chance it is looking increasingly unlikely they would make any threat. Rochdale had no game last week but Walsall surely ended their hopes when they fell to a shock defeat at Morecambe who recorded just their third win of the season and remain bottom by some distance.

It was a good week for the Clarets, and in particular for striker Ntumba Massanka. Last Tuesday we travelled to Preston and won 1-0 and on Saturday recorded a 3-2 Gawthorpe win against Port Vale. Massanka scored in the Preston win and bagged a brace on Saturday with Aussie Brandon Wilson scoring his first goal of the season.

Those results have taken us one place up the table, going above Port Vale by one point, or by 0.04 points per game, depending on which way you prefer to see it.

We've three games to play now; Accrington and Macclesfield now have six to play which is the most of any of the clubs in the league. Whether they will all be played remains to be seen.

There was a game yesterday between Morecambe and Preston but the result isn't yet available. We play at Bury this afternoon but have no game on Saturday. Our two remaining games, at Shrewsbury and at home against Rochdale, will be played on the first two Saturdays in April.
