Michael King - broke the deadlock early in the second half
Despite dominating the first half we went in at half time with the score 0-0, but it was a different story after the break once we'd gone in front eleven minutes into the half.

Michael King was brought down inside the box and got up to convert the penalty himself. It was two when Liam Newman headed home a Dave Lynch cross following good work from Joe McKee.

McKee then engineered two further goals. He played the ball for Ross Wilson to get in a shot that went in off Scunthorpe midfielder Aaron Wint before playing a through ball for Dom Knowles to make it 4-0.

Jordan Thewlis scored a late consolation for the home side but there was no doubting that the young Clarets thoroughly deserved this win.

The teams were;

Scunthorpe: Turner, Williams, Corner, Palmer, Dean, Maguire, Wint, McCaffrey, Thomas, Gibbs, Cross. Subs: Gbanie, Cooke, Rooker, Thewlis, Williamson, Thomas.

Burnley: Danny McDonald, Ed Williams, Tom Anderson, Steve Edwards, Jake McEneaney, Ross Wilson (James Taylor 79), Dave Lynch (Steven Hewitt 83), Joe McKee, Michael King, Dom Knowles (Joe Jackson 79), Liam Newman. Subs not used: Cooke, Curtis Woods.
