Away win for youth team at Wrexham

Defender Alex Whitmore scored our third goal

It brings an end to a run of three games without a win, and this coming after we'd outplayed Oldham in our opening fixture three weeks ago to win 3-0 with goals from Kevin Ly, Ntumba Massanka and Alex Whitmore.

We followed that up with a 3-1 defeat at Walsall with Massanka scoring again and last week we played two home games and drew both. Ten days ago we drew 1-1 against Tranmere when Callum Richardson scored an early goal for us and last Saturday we scored the first and last goals of the game as we drew 2-2 against Macclesfield, our goals from Massanka, his third of the season, and Khuis Metz.

This morning we travelled to Wrexham to take on last season's Youth Alliance League champions. However, they haven't started this season quite so well and had just one point from their opening four games ahead of today's kick off.

Luke Daly gave us a first half lead but the home side equalised and it was 1-1 at half time. The second half was Burnley's with Brad Jackson restoring our lead before central defender Whitmore completed the scoring to give us a deserved 3-1 win.

The Burnley team was: Callum Jakovlevs, Cameron Dummigan, Charlie Holt, Alex Whitmore, Waqas Azam, Brad Jackson, Nathan Lowe, Luke Daly, Andreas Bianga, Lewis Nuttall, Ntumba Massanka. Subs: Conor Mitchell, Andy Nugent, Jamal Crawford, Khuis Metz.

We are scheduled to play Fleetwood at home next Saturday morning, but with the first team in action at 12:15 in the derby against Blackburn it could be brought forward to Friday although nothing has been confirmed as yet.
