Another crushing defeat for beleaguered youth team

Marc Pugh - played well
Things are going from bad to worse for the youngsters who apart from being without the services of both Richard Chaplow and Paul Scott also had to play without the likes of Gary Carter, Ryan Townsend, Robert Grimes. That left Rhys Carpenter as the most experienced player in the team.

This left the team with only two players who were at the club as scholars last season and we also had to include one schoolboy in the most inexperienced of starting line ups.

We made a dreadful start and were two goals behind after just 20 minutes with things getting worse as we found ourselves four goals behind with still half an hour to go. It might have been the Clarets coming into the game or our hosts taking their foot off the pedal but we did at least get more of the ball in the closing stages although we did go on to concede a fifth goal to send us to our third defeat in four games, with just the comprehensive victory over a poor Blackpool side to boast of.

Coach Terry Pashley singled out Trotman, Pugh and Taylor as the only players to play well.

We are next in action this coming Friday against Carlisle, the game kicks off at 2:00 p.m. and has been brought forward from Saturday morning. Meanwhile we have been drawn away to Chesterfield in the Youth Alliance Cup (this competition is now a knock out rather than having the initial groups) and this game will be played on Saturday 11th October kicking off at 11:00 a.m.

The Burnley team against Stockport was:

Michael Hale, Ross Preston, Neal Trotman, Danny Pitham, James Heywood, Marc Pugh, Joe Booth, Darrel Avery, Tom Ince, Rhys Carpenter, Alex Taylor.
