Alliance goes goal crazy

Liam Newman - scored our third goal against Blackpool
Preston recorded a 4-0 win against Accrington, who had been beaten 7-0 in the first week by Oldham, but it was Macclesfield who were the highest scorers with a 5-1 win against struggling Chester City.

Burnley's 4-3 defeat to Blackpool on Friday produced the biggest aggregate of goals but Carlisle and Rochdale also hit four. The big winners of last week were Oldham. They'd beaten Accrington but this week fell to a 4-1 defeat at Carlisle.

Wigan, Rochdale, Tranmere and Stockport join Preston at the top with six points, albeit Rochdale's is from three games, whilst at the other end of the table there are four teams without a point from their opening two games. These are Burnley, Port Vale, Bury and Accrington.

With the first week bringing 27 goals the league has now seen a total of 64 scored in just 19 games.

There's a full fixture list next week with the Clarets making the short journey to Rossendale to play Rochdale as we look for our first points of the season.
