A win at last for youth team

Lewis Craig - scored one of the goals
Unfortunately due to illness and meetings elsewhere we weren't able to be at the game to report (typical after we have seen some of the defeats) but it was good news to hear of the result, in which Alex McDonald, Lewis Craig, Jay Rodriguez and Adam Kay all scored.

We remain next to bottom in the league but have now pulled for points clear of new boys Accrington Stanley and getting closer to the clubs above us although we are still four points adrift of the nearest Carlisle and the team we beat this morning Rochdale.

In what was a quiet day for fixtures, with none of the Group B clubs playing, Oldham lost their place at the top after drawing at home against Bury, and that was enough to let Wigan in provided they could win and they did just that, beating Blackpool 2-1 at Squires Gate.

We have a week off next weekend, but we'll be back in action at Gawthorpe in two weeks time when we play Bury. With the first team having played the night before against Preston this is an ideal opportunity to get down to the watch the lads.

Today's results:

Blackpool 1 Wigan 2
Burnley 4 Rochdale 1
Carlisle 0 Preston 3
Oldham 1 Bury 1
