Youth team win

Last updated : 24 April 2002 By Tony Scholes

We are unable to bring you an up to date league table presently due to some discrepancies regarding a couple of results. There is one game in particular between Carlisle United and Mansfield Town that both clubs claim to have won. We will update it just as soon as possible.

Recently we reported that Earl Davis, Andrew Leeson and Andrew Waine had all won professional contracts and we can now reveal that Mark Rasmussen, already a full time pro, has been offered a new one year deal.

Not such good news for a couple of the players and both Jon Leary and Paul Barrett will not be retained after their first two years. Leary in fact has already left the club although Paul Barrett played and scored today.

There was good news for Robert Grimes who is in his first year at Burnley. He broke his leg in the first match of the season and has spent all season getting fit. He played today for the first time coming on as a late sub. Grimes will now be given two more years as a scholar. Another player who has been injured is Brian Fogarty and he has been given a short period by the club to prove his fitness.

The win today will keep the young Clarets in second place behind Oldham and if Carlisle and Mansfield can settle their differences soon we will be able to bring you an up to date league table.
