Youth team remain second after big win

The young Clarets recorded a comfortable 6-0 victory against Mansfield Town with three players all scoring twice, Damian Hindle, Matthew O'Neill and Paul Barrett. We have now won five out of six games in this league but find ourselves still trailing Oldham who inflicted that one defeat on us. Oldham are top on goal difference but do have a game in hand.

We fielded a trialist, Daniel Pittan, in the game with a second, Ben Jones, on the bench and we lined up:

James Salisbury, Andrew Leeson, Paul Scott, Sean Blakey, Earl Davis, Daniel Pitten, Mark Rasmussen, Steven Richardson, Damian Hindle, Paul Barrett, Matthew O'Neill. Subs: Andrew Waine, Richard Chaplow, Ben Jones.

Oldham retained that goal difference lead with a big win of their own against York City and they are looking odds on to win this league now.

The full results this weekend were:

Friday 12th April

Grimsby Town 1 Shrewsbury Town 3

Saturday 13th April

Bradford City 0 Carlisle United 0
Burnley 6 Mansfield Town 0
Oldham Athletic 5 York City 0
Darlington v Chester City postponed

We are next in action this coming Saturday when we play Chester City away.
