Preston were beaten in the quarter-final
We are now at the semi-final stage in the Under-18 competition after an Alex Taylor goal was enough to see off North End at the beginning of December.

The tie will be played at Turf Moor but as yet we don’t know exactly who our opponents will be. We must await the outcome of the quarter-final between Blackpool and Tranmere Rovers to be played at Bloomfield Road.

Tranmere were certainly the side to be avoided but once again, it seems to be every year, we find ourselves up against the Birkenhead club in this competition. And it is likely to be them, they are clear favourites to go through against Blackpool.

The delay in their match is due to Tranmere’s involvement in the FA Youth Cup and the Lancashire FA were unable to give Clarets Mad any idea even when the Blackpool v Tranmere tie will go ahead.

The other semi final is between Oldham Athletic and Wigan Athletic and will be played at Boundary Park on Wednesday 10th March with a 2:00 p.m. kick off.
