Youth Cup Draws

In the Lancashire Youth Cup we have been paired with Tranmere Rovers for the third successive season and once again it is at home.

They have not proved to be successful ties against the Merseyside club and we have gone out to them on both occasions. Two seasons ago it was a 1-0 defeat but last season we were totally outplayed in every department of the pitch and but for keeper James Salisbury would have suffered a worse result than the 5-0 eventual 5-0 scoreline.

Today we have received another home time in the FA Youth Cup 3rd round against Crystal Palace. This will be unknown territory for the young Clarets but Palace have a good youth system and this will prove to be a very tough game.

The team we have available to us should no be confused with the team that plays in the Youth Alliance League. The league is an under 19 league but the cups are for under 18s. This means that players such as James Salisbury, Matty O’Neill, Liam Eves, Joel Pilkington and Damian Hindle will not be available.

There are no dates as yet for either game but the Lancashire game must be played by 21st November and the FA tie against Palace by 7th December.
