Youngsters still searching

Mark Rasmussen - no trial at Hartlepool
None of Earl Davis, Andrew Leeson, Mark Rasmussen, Anthony Shandran and Andrew Waine have as yet found themselves new clubs although some of them have been linked with moves elsewhere.

Earl Davis ended last season at Southport and there were suggestions that he could go there on a permanent basis. Nothing has happened although it is believed that he could continue at Burnley for a short period as a non-contract player.

It was thought that Mark Rasmussen could be signing for Hartlepool but nothing has happened there and Anthony Shandran’s hopes of a deal at York look to have gone with new manager Chris Brass ruling it out after it was though he would continue there after a loan period.

There’s no news either of the two Andrews – Leeson and Waine. Wainy got a couple of sub appearances for the first team at the end of last season but despite enquiries has not signed for anyone.

But it is better news for the more experienced players although Marlon has not signed for York as yet. Although they look to have got their man Marlon is still to sign on the dotted line. That sounds familiar.

Meanwhile Ian Cox will be playing for our Division One rivals Gillingham, Steve Davis has joined Blackpool and Nik Michopoulos will be in goal for Omonia Nicosia. And it will be non-league football for Andy Payton (in the Unibond with Stalybridge) and Paul Cook and Gordon Armstrong at Accrington Stanley as they play in the Conference for the first time.

That just leaves Lee Briscoe who looked all set to sign for Rotherham weeks ago. Nothing has happened, presumably he has other offers, but there is no doubt he will find himself another club.

There are a couple of ex-Clarets trialing with other clubs. Former loan player Paul Robinson, who is looking for a club after leaving Franchise, is training with Hartlepool and Tom Cowan, surplus to requirements at York, is with Barnsley and hopeful of a contract.

We’ll continue to keep a look out for those still looking for clubs and hope they are soon fixed up.
