Baker was one of two new goalkeepers to sign a two year apprenticeship in the summer along with Northern Ireland youngster Jonathan Sergeant, signing up later than the other new players.

He's featured for the youth team and has impressed on the couple of occasions I've seen him play, and he made his Youth Alliance debut for us in the first game this season, but he's been homesick since the Clarets took him from Crewe and the sensible decision has been taken to release him from his apprenticeship.

Today, Head of Youth Development Vince Overson said: “Jack was clearly struggling to come to terms with the transition from schoolboy to full time training and this, combined with his homesickness, has led us to terminate his contract with immediate effect.”

We'd like to wish Jack the very best in whatever he chooses to do, whether that is within football or outside the game.
