Young Clarets go out of Youth Alliance Cup

It was a case of nearly but not quite enough for the Clarets youngsters against Preston North End today.

Knowing that they needed a win to stand any chance of qualifying from the group stage they took the lead thanks to a Mark Rasmussen penalty.

Preston then equalised before Damien Hindle restored the Clarets lead at the break.

Unfortunately they couldn't hold on as 2 goals in a matter of minutes put the visitors ahead before they added a 4th late on. Preston must now await the result of the other match between Wigan and Blackpool to see if they qualify automatically for the knockout stages as winners of the group.

Match report to follow later.
