You'll always be a Claret

Last updated : 24 March 2006 By Tony Scholes

Match day prices are up by £1 in the Longside, £2 in the Bob Lord but have been kept at the 2005/06 prices in the Jimmy Mac whilst season ticket prices have been held at this season's prices in the Longside.

That's all explained below in the information from the club which I am reproducing in its entirety. There's also good news in that they have not sneaked in the surcharge again, I think its disappearance has been a major success for the campaigning on this site and message board, although somewhat surprisingly they have tried to claim it was an advanced purchase discount scheme.

Again the discount period will be April and the tickets go on sale a week today, Friday 31st March. And now to the information from Burnley FC with the prices at the end.

It may be a striker's nightmare. A barren spell in front of goal, difficulty hitting the target. But form is temporary and class is permanent. The goals will come and the form will return. It's all about belief.

The belief in the Club is that a new season full of promise is not that far away. The belief in the Club is that a goal to increase season ticket holders for next season is achievable.

That is over 9,000. It is quite a strike rate. The Club recognises that the downturn in form since Christmas is not an ideal recommendation to invest in a season ticket for next season. However in encouraging Burnley fans both old and new that' Being a Claret' is a heritage to be cherished and protected and that supporting the Club is permanent and not temporary based on a few poor results, then the vital close season income provided by season ticket revenues can reach budget.

Chief Executive, Dave Edmundson commented, “We've put a great deal of thought and research into the package for next season. Everywhere I go, people from outside Burnley remark on the remarkable loyalty of the Burnley supporters. I'm sure that will remain unchanged and the theme 'You'll always be a Claret' recognises that.”

Manager Steve Cotterill has committed his future to the Club and the manager's plans for the close season are always helped by advance season ticket sales.

A number of changes have been made to the package for 2006/07, with price increases kept to a minimum and general prices brought into line with each other in order to try and provide a great deal for all supporters, no matter where they might prefer to watch the game.

Season tickets will be on sale from the 31st March - supporters will be able to buy in person, on the phone and via the internet. All current season ticket holders will receive a pack through the post shortly. Non Season Ticket holders can also request a pack in person at the ticket office or over the phone on 0870 443 1914.

2006/07 - The Prices

For the forthcoming 2006/07 season, the Club have made a number of changes to the pricing plan in order to try to provide a great deal for all supporters, no matter where you might prefer to watch the game.

The 'Deal'

The 2005/06 season ticket pricing policy saw season ticket holders in certain areas of Turf Moor receiving more free games for their money than others. After reviewing this, the Club has made sure that the deals have been brought into line to ensure that all Season Ticket Holders receive approximately the same number of 'free' games throughout the season.

This means that an adult who buys a season ticket before the discount deadline will receive five free games over the campaign, a senior citizen will receive nine free games and a junior concession season ticket holder will be able to watch at least 14 free matches, no matter where they sit in the ground!

Re-alignment of stand pricing

Over the years, the Club has worked from the idea that the James Hargreaves Stand Upper is the premium seating area of the ground. The Bob Lord Stand, although equivalent to the James Hargreaves Upper Stand as a premium seating area of the stadium, has up until now been slightly cheaper.

Both season ticket and match day prices for these two areas of the ground are to be brought in line with each other for the 2006/07 season. This will be achieved by freezing season ticket prices for the James Hargreaves Upper Stand and raising the Bob Lord Stand season tickets to the same level as the James Hargreaves Upper. Adult match day prices for both areas will be £21, an increase of £1 in the James Hargreaves Upper Stand, and £2 in the Bob Lord Stand.

Building on our family base

In addition to the moves to give all supporters a fair deal, the Club is proud to announce some new family based initiatives for 2006/7 including:-

* Under 8 season ticket holders will receive a free replica shirt as part of the season ticket package.

* A family buying their seats together in the Jimmy McIlroy family stand upper tier, will pay the same total price for their season tickets as 2005/06. Please see the guidelines for family offers outlined on the match day experience page.

* The Jimmy McIlroy family stand is to be relaunched and revitalised. Please see the match day experience page.

Match Day Pricing

There are changes to the pricing policy for match day tickets too.

* The advance purchase discount scheme that was in place during the 2005/06 season has now ended, so supporters who turn up on the day of a game without a ticket in the forthcoming campaign will pay less than last season

* Jimmy McIlroy Stand match day prices have been frozen to ensure that we provide affordable access on a match-by-match basis to those who cannot afford a season ticket.

* Price increases in all other stands, based on last season's advance purchase price, are limited to just £1.

* A new student membership scheme means students are now able to watch from the Jimmy McIlroy Lower at concession prices.

We hope you can see that we've worked hard at delivering a fair and attractive ticketing strategy for all groups in 2006/07. There really is something for everyone and we look forward to seeing you again 'on the Turf' next season.

Family Stand & Match Day Experience

The Club is relaunching the Family Stand for the 2006/07 season. Situated in the Jimmy McIlroy Upper Stand, this area will become the part of the stadium where families can come along to enjoy a series of activities before taking their seats to watch the game.

Extra stewarding in this area will mean that we ensure that 'the Jimmy Mac experience' is a safe and pleasant one for all the family at all times and match day family stand tickets will only be sold on the basis of '+1'. In other words, no tickets will be sold to individuals or groups who do not include at least one under 16 member.

There will be opportunities for younger fans to meet players before the game and get autographs from their favourites. Bertie Bee will also be visiting to provide photo opportunities and meet and greet our junior supporters.

With monthly activities also lined up within the Family Stand such as SpeedBall shooting, artwork opportunities and bands, the matchday experience in the Jimmy McIlroy Upper Stand will be lifted to a higher level.

The pricing in this area of Turf Moor is geared towards the family with special offers for family groups (which must include at least one junior concession ticket), so why not come along and enjoy the fun?

For your information, we have defined a family as a group, including at least one person under 16, buying tickets for adjoining seats and paying in one transaction from one bank account

Our existing Family Stand season ticket holders are welcome to remain in the seats they already occupy, but we understand that these activities may not be to everyone's taste, so existing adult Jimmy McIlroy season ticket holders who wish to move away from the junior fun can take advantage of a one season only special offer of £20 off a 2006/07 James Hargreaves Stand or Bob Lord Stand season ticket. If you wish to take up this offer, please ask for this at the ticket office when you choose your new seat.

The Match Day Experience at Turf Moor isn't just confined to the Jimmy McIlroy Upper Stand though, as a series of match promotions and themes are planned for certain games through the season with all fans able to take advantage of special offers and activities on the day. So, keep your eyes and ears peeled through the season!
