You say Black or Moore

Eric Black - alongside Ronnie Moore is your choice to take over
The two we revealed as the leading candidates last week, Eric Black and Ronnie Moore, came out on top with both polling the same number of votes and taking a 28.7% share.

Black’s departure from Coventry has stunned the supporters who are less than happy to see him and his assistant Archie Know replaced by Peter Reid and Adrian Heath. The Coventry board wanted a higher profile man and Black was sacrificed.

He’s also been linked with jobs in his native Scotland and Hibs are certainly keen to take him to Edinburgh. But the family are settled in the Midlands and are reluctant to move again.

Ronnie Moore appears to be the club’s first choice still but the Rotherham manager has been in the Channel Islands over the last few days in discussions with potential new owner of the South Yorkshire club Neil Freeman.

He has offered Moore a board seat and a five year contract should the takeover go through but that could yet be some months away. Moore is certainly believed to be very enthusiastic at the possibility of taking over at Turf Moor.

There was not too much support for the other candidates although former Cheltenham and Stoke manager Steve Cotterill was third with 15%. The former Wimbledon player has not been able to get back into management following his ill fated spell at Sunderland with Howard Wilkinson and is currently working at Leicester for Micky Adams.

They really are also rans after that with former Claret Brian Flynn, out of work since losing his job at Swansea, winning just 6.1% whilst Andy Payton’s choice for the job Steve McMahon gets very little support from the fans with only 4.3%.

He did a good job at Walsall, and surely getting rid of him virtually signed their relegation papers, but you do not want Colin Lee. He came bottom of the poll with only 0.6% of the vote.

That left 16.6% of you hoping it would be none of these six but right now it is certainly Black and Moore who you would prefer to see stepping into the Turf Moor hot seat.
