York – beginning to look like the Ex-Clarets in Sport

Chris Brass has already signed Steve Davis, whilst both Craig Mawson and Paul Weller have been training with them since the start of pre-season training.

Weller has moved on and is currently training with League One club Luton Town but former goalkeeper Paul Crichton is now trialling with the Nationwide Conference National club.

The 35-year-old Crichton has been released by Norwich after three years. He moved to Carrow Road from the Clarets where he expected to get more first team football after being ousted by Nik Michopoulos at Burnley.

That never materialised with the emergence of Robert Green and he started just five games, al at the beginning of 2002 when Green was injured. That included one game against us at the Turf.

Crichts has now played in over 400 league games for eleven different clubs since he made his debut for Notts County almost 18 years ago and is hoping to now resurrect his first team career at York if he impresses enough in training.

And if so then he is expected to take on the dual role of keeper and goalkeeper coach and could have Craig Mawson as his understudy just as was the case back at Turf Moor during the promotion season of 1999/2000.
