The 31-year-old defensive midfielder claims to have already held talks with the Clarets and expects the deal to go through although he won't be available immediately as he leads his country in the African Cup of Nations.

Mansoura said: "I have had discussions with Burnley's directors and all that remains is for the two clubs to agree a deal. All should be decided in the coming days, but we are on the right track.

"I want to play in England, their league is one of the best in the world, and it suits my style of play. I will leave for Burnley with pleasure if a deal falls into place. Premier League games are played before packed stadiums with amazing atmospheres, and anyone would love to play there.

"Lorient have not met my salary demands, and so I am entitled to seek a chance of scene with just six months left on my contract."

French born Mansouri has played in England before, in the Championship with Coventry City in 2003, but a loan deal with the Sky Blues was terminated when he left to play for Algeria in the African Cup of Nations.
