Yates gets Cheltenham job

Yates had two spells at Burnley, one as a player and one as a coach. He was Frank Casper's last signing for Burnley early in the 1991/92 season but having failed to establish himself in the first team he moved to Doncaster two years later.

During his playing career he had a long spell with Cheltenham but ended that playing career at Kidderminster before returning to Turf Moor as a coach in the summer of 2004 following the appointment of Steve Cotterill as manager.

He was with us until January 2006 when he took the manager's role at Kidderminster which he's held for the four years since. But today, he's made the move back to Cheltenham where he replaces the recently departed Martin Allen.

Neil Howarth, another former Burnley and Cheltenham player, will go with him from Kidderminster and will take up the position of first team coach.
