The Clarets are keen to bring the 20-year-old to Turf Moor on loan and it is believed that with the capture of Justin Hoyte this weekend that Boro boss Gareth Southgate might be willing to let him go out.
Williams is from Perth in Australia and has come through the academy at the North East club. He's also a regular Wales Under-21 international, he opted for Wales despite qualifying for England, Australia and India, his dad being English and his mum born in Bombay.
He is highly rated and signed a two year deal in the summer of 2007. He was very much involved with the squad during pre-season in 2007 but is still to make his competitive debut.
Williams can play anywhere across the back four and can even play as a holding midfield player.
