Will the Woolery Lamb become a Claret?

Had we been looking forward to another season in the Championship then the story would have been about which players might have to be sold to balance the books and then looking for less expensive options to replace them.

But, in the Premier League we are and already a number of players have been linked with a move to Turf Moor. Some have been so farfetched it was beyond anything in the Fantasy Premier League game, some have been realistic and some based on sheer sentiment.

However, I wasn't expecting the name of Kaiyne Woolery to come up, but apparently he's a player we are looking at according to the local media in Tamworth where he's been a member of the local side just relegated from the Skrill Premier, better known to most of us as the Conference.

Woolery has been with Tamworth for one season and has already agreed to stay with them for 2014/15. He was signed from Maidstone in June of last year and, at the time of the signing, Tamworth boss Dale Belford said: "He has attracted the interest of a lot of clubs and played in the majority of Maidstone's games in the Ryman League last season, despite only being 18.

"He's lightning quick, right-footed but equally comfortable on either side of the midfield or in the front line. He's someone I am looking forward to getting in for pre-season and working with."

Woolery swapped playing alongside one former Claret in Jon Harley in the Ryan League to teaming up with two more, Duane Courtney and Wayne Thomas, at Tamworth, but he didn't get a start until April and then played all of the last three games of the season. He'd previously appeared nine times as a substitute in the league.

To add to that he also made one substitute appearance in the FA Cup against Bristol City on the day Steve Cotterill took charge of the League One club for the first time.

Belford believes he has a future at a much higher level than his club and, despite him agreeing terms for next season, believes Woolery could be on his way during the summer.
