What's all the fuss about?

Gazza on the Burnley subs bench for the last time
That was very much the case in the early part of the season when KKMV, GVW (or is it SEJW) and SJHWW were getting all the publicity. However we know how to generate it and that is to sign one of the biggest names in English football.

Two years ago we did just that bringing Ian Wright to the Turf and the place just went mad with TV cameras almost permanently at the ground. It has been the same recently with the acquisition of Paul Gascoigne with suddenly a mass of interest in Burnley Football Club again.

This week we released two players in Mitchell Thomas and Kevin Ball who have both done great jobs for the Clarets, two players with Premiership pedigrees. It hardly warranted a mention but then today Stan says that he thinks Gazza has played his last game for the club and suddenly we are front page news again.

It is pretty sad really, it isn't even really news. Is there a Clarets fan anywhere who really thought Gazza would ever play for the club again, in fact are there many Clarets fans who would want to see Gazza playing for the club again. Why is it such big news?

The move to bring him to Turf Moor clearly didn't work out, he started just three of the seven games he could have played in and not once did he play a full ninety minutes. It is fair to say that his passing of the ball was excellent, hardly giving it away, and he took some good free kicks that came close to getting him some goals. That was about it though as at times he clearly struggled and it was sad to see him continually being caught in possession.

The fuss will die down here now although I am sure that Gazza will continue to attract the press in America or Dubai or wherever he decides to play his next game. We will just get on with doing everything quietly again and moaning when we don't get the publicity.
