We've got Red Card Cooper

Cooper has always been a referee keen to make use of his cards but this season he has excelled himself and in just 19 games has issued a total of 92 yellow and a staggering 11 red cards.

The one red card that brought him to prominence was the one he gave to Gillingham's Kevin James for celebrating a goal with the visiting fans at Brighton. And all James did was run to his fans who were, with it being the Withdean, some distance away.

Those that have seen his red card this season are Allan Nielsen (Watford), Santos Gaia (Exeter), Mark Saunders and Kevin James (Gillingham), Ricardo Fuller (Preston), Richard Walker (Crewe), Dean Smith (Leyton Orient), Nathan Abbey (Northampton), Parle (Runcorn), Sol Davis (Luton) and Jamie Stuart (Bury).

And a word of caution to the Clarets that eight of those eleven were away team players when Cooper sent them off.

HIs distribution of yellow cards is hardly any fairer and just 34 of the 92 have been to home team players with the other 58 to away team players.

He didn't send anyone off in his last game but prior to that he had sent off at least one player in nine of his previous twelve games.

We can hope that he thinks enough is enough and he is giving his red card a rest for a while.
