We've got Cahill until the summer

Manager Steve Cotterill has finally got his wish and secured the the England Under-20 international for the rest of the season after he has impressed everyone during his first two months at the club.

Cotterill has been in discussions with Villa boss David O’Leary who is clearly benefiting with his young player picking up experience at this level of football.

And with the defensive crisis easing down at Villa Park the former Arsenal player O’Leary has looked at it this way and has agreed to the long term loan.

Cahill came in initially and was thrown into the cup tie against Spurs just a couple of hours after arriving. Since then with both Frank Sinclair and John McGreal having missed games it has meant that the Villa player has been in the side for every game.

Apart from the occasional waving of his arms he has been immaculate at the back for us and it is certainly fantastic news that we have been able to hold on to him for the rest of the season.
