He had a month out at Grimsby at the beginning of this year when he scored once in a defeat against Rotherham, but since then he's been more involved with the first team at Burnley and is far better equipped for a spell in League Two.
Brian Laws said earlier this week: "Wes impressed me in pre-season, hence my thoughts on including him in the squad over the summer, and he did really well with us.
"He's strong, he's worked extremely hard on the physical side of things and he's got an eye for goal. He's a very quiet lad, he's like a Mark Hughes, quiet off the pitch, but not on it, but he's getting on with it and he's impressed us all.
"We have high hopes for him, but there's still a long way to go yet."
Nothing has been confirmed as yet, but Fletcher is the third player Laws referred to earlier today with regard to going out on loan, and the manager said: "Wes Fletcher we've sanctioned to go to Stockport to get some league games under his belt.
"He's been fantastic for us this year, and he's getting stronger and we feel this would be a major step in the right direction for his development. And, like Kevin Long, we can keep an eye on him because he's close by."
