We will be playing them again for the first time in eight years. The last time we met was in our own promotion season of 1999/2000 when we drew a poor game down at Ashton Gate 0-0 before beating them 2-0 at the Turf with a superb strike from Paul Cook followed by a second from Andy Cooke.

They west country side needed a win today to ensure that promotion place and in the end it was a vital win with Blackpool storming to a 6-3 victory at Swansea. The Seasiders will now join Nottingham Forest, Yeovil and Oldham in the end of season play offs for the last Championship place.

Bristol City last played at this level in the 1998/99 season after winning promotion under John Ward's management in 1998. They were relegated after just one year. They finished bottom and went down with Oxford and Bury. Since that relegation they have never finished below ninth and on two occasions ended the season in third place but failed in the play offs.
