Weller back at Burnley

Last updated : 02 November 2005 By Tony Scholes

Paul’s had a difficult time with injuries since leaving Burnley at the end of the 2003/04 season but looked set to join Carlisle after training with them at the start of the season. He played for them in the reserves against us at Accrington back in August.

He played some games for Workington in the hope of convincing Carlisle boss Paul Simpson to offer him a contract. Unfortunately the injury has forced him to hang up his boots and he’s joined the Leisure and Community Department where he will involve himself in a number of projects.

Paul will coach the students from Myerscough College, he’ll also join the team coaching youngsters at the soccer schools and after school sessions run by the department and will be heavily involved in the Football Development Centre at Nelson and Colne College.

Away from football Paul will also be gaining further qualifications in Tae-Bo and spinning to enable him to take classes.

Having played over 250 league games for the Clarets he’ll be on familiar territory and will be following in the footsteps of other former ex-Clarets such as Gerry Harrison, Andy Farrell, Vince Overson and Ashley Hoskin who have all been involved there. We wish him all the best on his return to Burnley.
