Well done to the lads in the five a side

We were not having a go at the lads who had represented the Clarets, just that they had taken a couple of heavy defeats from Blackpool and Carlisle. This was largely due to the fact that the Burnley team was put together at short notice and was in fact a group of individuals whereas the others entering were actual teams, sponsored and supported by their clubs.

We have had word from Bev Todd at Rossendale Clarets who was able to get a team together and she told us that the Clarets team had been totally outclassed, outplayed and outdressed. She said that the lads had given their best but the other teams had all been selected by their clubs. As we said yesterday we do know that the winning team was provided by Seasiders.net the independent Blackpool web site who were sponsored and had kit supplied by their club.

Dylan, who played on the right wing for the Clarets, told us that we did pick up a point in a creditable 4-4 draw against Hartlepool and said they had done well considering the team had only been put together 36 hours before the tournament.

To all of you well done, it doesn't matter how you played or what the results were. You can all take pride in the fact that you stood up and represented our club. I hope you all get the chance to go again next year, this time with better preparation.
