Wednesday not happy

Last updated : 15 November 2007 By Tony Scholes

As we reported earlier, there was strong speculation that Wednesday had been approached and this morning they issued the following statement from chief executive Kaven Walker which read:

We are disappointed that this approach for Brian Laws from Burnley has become public knowledge because when we were contacted by the club yesterday we asked specifically that the information should be kept confidential.

The way this has come out is particularly frustrating because just over a year ago we made a similar approach to Burnley regarding Steve Cotterill. We were told then that our approach would be turned down and asked us to keep the information from reaching the public domain, which we clearly adhered to.

The news has broken this morning in the media, but Wednesday might wish to note that exactly the same happened last year following their approach for Steve Cotterill. It was hardly the best kept secret in football.
