Webster in charge tonight for Ipswich

Last updated : 02 October 2007 By Tony Scholes
Webster, from Shotley Bridge, has had his moments with the Clarets, and he had something of a nightmare the last time we saw him at Deepdale last season for our league game against Preston, carding no fewer than eight players.

Last season I warned that he was a referee somewhat over eager with his cards early in the season, and he promptly sent off Andy Gray at Sheffield Wednesday, but this season he's not been quite so active.

He's refereed seven games to date this season and there have been just eighteen yellow cards, and ten have them have come in two of the games. Unlike most referees he's currently booked more home players than away players. Despite both cards going to away players in his last game his total is eleven to home team players and seven to away team players.

So Webster isn't the best referee, but we shouldn't expect a Kettle type performance tonight despite the name of the fourth official.

He will be assisted by Paul Curry (Northumberland) and Craig Pawson (South Yorkshire) and the fourth official will be Paul KETTLEwell (Lancashire).
