Webster gets second Burnley game of the season

Last updated : 04 February 2005 By Tony Scholes

One thing that we can ensure with this referee is that he will be noticed, he’s over fussy and will constantly hold up play to move a free kick a yard or two, and similar with throw ins. He’s just not a referee that seems to want to allow the game to flow.

He’ll stop the game for all sorts of silly little things but invariably if there is anything bad this referee will miss it.

It will be his seventh Burnley game since he came onto the league list for the 2000/01 season and all of them have been at the Turf.

This season he’s been in charge of 25 games and has handed out 77 yellow cards and 3 red cards and the one game that stands out above all others is the League Two fixture between Chester and Shrewsbury in December.

The game ended 1-1 but Webster had a busy afternoon booking seven players and sending off three, all in separate incidents, and it was down to ten a side with only nineteen minutes on the clock.

As always more cards have gone to the away team players. They have collected six of the red cards whilst the yellow card count is 32 to home team players and 45 to away team players.

What are the chances of a card free game? The last time with Webster was September 2002.

Tomorrow he will be assisted by Bob Lockhart (Tyne and Wear) and Neil Swarbrick (Lancashire).
