Webster gets Deepdale game

He'd already sent off Brighton's Dean Cox on the opening day of the season and just before the end of our draw at Hillsborough he sent off Andy Gray which forced the striker to miss the home game against Wolves. I feel sure that a few weeks into the season he would not have been sent off.

The red card stayed in his pocket for a few weeks after that but just over two months into the season he sent off players in three successive games. Matt Kilgallon of Leeds went in their 2-1 home defeat against Leicester. He sent off Luton goalkeeper Marlon Beresford as they were beaten 3-0 at Preston, and another ex-Burnley player Steve Guinan was sent off as Cheltenham fell to a 2-0 defeat at Scunthorpe. The only player he's sent off since then is Birmingham's Radhi Jaidi in their 2-0 defeat at Hull.

As far as yellow cards are concerned, in 27 games there have been 72, with 32 going to home team players and 40 to away team players.

He's not the worst of referees, but he has sent off three Burnley players in the past, Arthur Gnohere (somewhat unfortunately against Bradford City) and Frank Sinclair (deservedly against Leeds).

He refereed our 3-0 League Cup win against Blackpool in the 2002/03 season, but we've failed to win any of the seven Burnley games he's refereed since. That's another run that needs to be brought to an end.

He will be assisted by Andy Haines (Tyne & Wear) and Andrew Smith (Yorkshire) whilst the fourth official will be Football League referee Anthony Taylor (Cheshire).
