Webster again

The 39 year old from Shotley Bridge in Tyne & Wear is in his sixth season on the league list and is no stranger to Turf Moor. Prior to this season all his seven Burnley games had been home games, games when he has sent off Barnsley's Chris Morgan, and both Arthur Gnohere and Frank Sinclair.

I think a couple of Crewe players could thank themselves luck to have avoided his red card at the beginning of the season but at Bramall Lane there wasn't even a yellow card throughout the ninety minutes.

That's a surprise, he's handed out 111 yellow cards this season in 33 games and also 11 red cards (including 2 in a game four times) which is an average of a red card every three games. His current run of no red card in four games is his second longest this season without sending anyone off.

On a more optimistic note, he's a referee that tends to go card mad early in the season and peters out as the season progresses. It is no surprise to see that exactly half of his yellow cards and five of those red cards came in his first eleven games this season.

He's no homer, certainly not when at Burnley, and fifty of those yellow cards have gone to home players with away players picking up just six more, whilst six of the red cards have gone the way of home players.

The last time we won with Webster as referee was the League Cup tie against Blackpool three seasons ago, it has been a draw and four defeats since. It's about time that was changed.

His assistants will be Andrew Smith and David Richardson (both Yorkshire) whilst Darwen based Football League referee Tony Leake will carry out the fourth official duties.
