Webb again at Goodison

Last updated : 27 December 2009 By Tony Scholes
He got his yellow card out three times in that Villa game and each time it was for a Villa player. Richard Dunne was the first and he was followed by Steve Sidwell and Carlos Cuellar. Dunne in fact was very fortunate not to be sent off after pulling back Steven Fletcher in the second half.

It was hardly a surprise, Webb does seem to get one important decision wrong per game and this was it. Maybe, had Villa been rightly reduced to ten men, we would have gone on and won the game.

He's been busy with his cards this season, although all of them to date have been yellow. He's handed out 51 in just 15 games with 13 of those yellow cards coming in there Champions League games.

The card count suggests we are the more likely to receive yellow cards tomorrow. In those 12 domestic games, 12 of the yellow cards have gone to home team players and 26 to away team players.

I said it last month that he's rated our number one referee. I'm not quite sure, but I'd like to see him give a performance that would suggest it.

The assistant referees are Stephen Child (Kent) and Peter Kirkup (Northamptonshire) and the fourth official is Football League referee Michael Oliver (Tyne & Wear).
