Weary Whinger sacked

The Weary Whinger is no more
Right to the end he kept up his weary whinging and was complaining about his goalkeeper being illegally impeded as Marlon Broomes put through his own goal to give Brighton their winner and leave Preston just one point off the bottom of the league.

The Preston fans never took to him after he came in as the long term replacement for the Haunted One David Moyes in the summer of 2002 and were after his blood within a month of the start of his first season.

He has had two disappointing seasons, finishing 12th and 15th, and this despite the fact that he has been allowed to bring in a total of fifteen players during his tenure.

As Preston’s results got worse his excuses got better, never was a legitimate goal scored against Preston yet never did he see anything that one of his players did wrong. He would defend bad tackles and even downright cheating by his players but would be complaining about the slightest push on his players.

Not as though anyone ever knew, by then everyone was asleep or just not taking any notice.

He was always a risk, he’d never previously been involved in full time management, and his experience was as a national coach with Scotland.

Billy Davies will take temporary charge whilst Preston look for a replacement. This has been on the cards and it is believed that potential replacements for Brown have already been sounded out.

The favourite for the job was, until the end of last season, the manager of another league club in Lancashire area and suggestions in Preston are that he is all set to take over. The man in question is Steve McMahon.

Brown’s departure is somewhat sad news for Clarets Mad who have enjoyed his constant weary whinging over the last two years. It would be good if he could replace Souness at Ewood so the north west could continue to be put to sleep by him.

A Preston fan has contacted Clarets Mad to tell us, “This is fantastic news for Preston North End, he was never up to the job and we have to ask serious questions of our board in that they allowed him to continue for as long as he did. Bring on the replacement, he can’t possibly be worse.”
