We need our real passionate Burnley crowd

For Wednesday boss Brian Laws, it is a return to the club where he started his playing career, and he said about the current form: “We have had a dip at the wrong time, and so have Burnley, but there are two places in the play offs up for grabs and if you are five or six points away at the end of February, you have a great chance. There's always a late runner every year, somebody will do it.”

Talking about his old club he added: “Steve Cotterill has done a tremendous job and has made some very astute signings. He's well respected and he's got his team playing in the right manner, they get the ball down and play.

“They've missed Andy Gray because he is a big influence, but Ade Akinbiyi coming back is a big coup for them, that is a fantastic piece of business. He is still so powerful and strong. It is always a very hard game away at Burnley. They are a good, strong side with quality players on a tight pitch.

Steve Cotterill knows his side is in need of a good result, and he's asking the supporters for some help. “We need our real passionate Burnley crowd because at the moment myself and the players need the crowd. We do our bit, and ok of late that hasn't happened but we need that passionate crowd behind us on Saturday.

“Six of our last seven games have been away, and that's tough as well, so a nice home game with a good passionate crowd behind us might just help us. We are the same people that were flying at the beginning of the season. It will be a tough game tomorrow, Sheffield Wednesday will probably have between two and three thousand fans here, and that will make it tough in itself.

“They put a good run of form together when the young youth team coach went in there after Paul Sturrock had gone. They won three or four on the spin I think. Points can be very hard to come by but if you can do that it will obviously change your fortunes.
