So the stand will now be the Jimmy McIlroy Stand sponsored by CD Bramall and that is just how it should be. They have been sponsors at Turf Moor for some years when they were Skippers and then Sanderson and of course the Longside’s last days were under the name of The Sanderson Longside.
The new deal suits all with the traditional name retained, there is no need to lose it to accommodate a sponsor. There is no doubt that The Harry Potts Longside sponsored by …… would have been a much preferred alternative to the current name for the North Stand.
