We do have a game this weekend

Tony Grant - doubtful with the foot injury that kept him out at Scunthorpe
It has been a major disappointment that our club have chosen not to speak out this week at the nonsense, especially given our own Chairman’s views on this franchising views that he made public almost two years ago.

It is also more than disappointing that Stan Ternent did choose to speak out and got his facts completely wrong regard the attitude of Merton Council regarding a return to the borough and also in his comments about the fans not wanting the club playing at Selhurst Park.

Stan is more than entitled to his opinions, no one will disagree with that, but here he got his facts wrong and with his comments being made available on our own club’s official web site it did give the wrong impression that these were the views of Burnley FC.

But we do have a game and Stan does have a team to pick and we will have supporters there.

As for the team it looks as though the line up will be very similar if not identical to the team that played at Scunthorpe in midweek as we made progress in the Carling Cup. Paul Weller replaced Tony Grant for that game with midfielder Grant still considered doubtful with a foot injury.

We believe that Alan Moore is still out injured although as yet there has not been any confirmed report of the injury and so if Grant misses out we will once again be down to four subs unless we decide to bring Paul Scott back into the squad.

I expect Burnley to line up unchanged whether Grant is fit or not and that means: Brian Jensen, Dean West, David May, Andy Todd, Mo Camara, Ian Moore, Paul Weller, Gareth Farrelly, Luke Chadwick, Robbie Blake, Delroy Facey.

Lee Roche, Richard Chaplow, Graham Branch and Matt O’Neill will be on the bench and they could be joined by either Tony Grant, if fit, or Paul Scott if Stan decides to include five subs.

The referee is Mark Warren from Walsall and he has been in lightening form this season with a total of 30 yellow cards and 3 red cards in just 7 games and that includes 8 last week in the Notts County v Tranmere game.

His last Burnley game was the 3-0 home win over Rotherham in September 2001. There were four yellow cards that day, two each, with Stretch Armstrong and Bally collecting ours.

Clarets Mad will have a report of the game but this will come from a Burnley fan who has to be there and not a fan who has chosen to be there.

For those of you who have decided to go then please give the lads your support, please make your feelings known about franchising, and more than ever please bring the three points home with you.

Our regular match service will of course resume when we play Watford this coming Tuesday.
