Warnock thinks he can shop in Burnley

Micah Hyde - chose Burnley ahead of Sheffield United
Twice in just over a year the Sheffield United boss has missed out on players who have chosen Burnley ahead of his own club and rumours persist that he would still like to take them both to Bramall Lane.

During pre-season 2004 he had Micah Hyde training with his side and he played a couple of games for the Blades during that period. However Steve Cotterill stepped in and snatched Micah from under his nose and Warnock has had to watch as he has turned in a string of impressive performances in our midfield.

The suggestion is that Warnock would now be prepared to hand over £200,000 to take Micah to Bramall Lane but there’s no doubt such an enquiry would be laughed out of Turf Moor. Apart from the fact that we wouldn’t want to sell him there is no doubt that he is valued way above that figure.

It was more recently that Warnock belittled Burnley with comments following Ade Akinbiyi’s move to Turf Moor. He thought he had got Ade and was not best pleased when again Steve Cotterill persuaded a player he would be better off at Burnley.

Warnock, who hasn’t signed a striker now for over a month, is still looking enviously at Ade and at his goalscoring record for the club. He scored his first Burnley goal at Bramall Lane and has since added another fifteen for the Clarets.

The Sheffield United boss has been linked again with a move for Ade but quite simply Neil, don’t bother, you seriously cannot afford him now, his value has increased so much.

You have to hand it to the Sheffield United manager, he can obviously spot a good player and has earmarked two of the most influential players at the Turf. They will both go to Bramall Lane, and soon, we are playing there next month. But that will be it as Warnock’s moves for these two players will fail, just like they did last time.
