Ward looks to leave Molineux

That will all have to wait though until he is back on his feet. Ward has just had surgery on his hip to correct a long standing problem and will spend the summer recovering and getting back on his feet.

He joined Wolves as assistant to Colin Lee and has continued in that role since Dave Jones became manager. However he is keen to try his hand at management again.

He arrived at Burnley in July 1996 after spells as manager of York City and Bristol Rovers and was considered to be the person responsible for our improvement in form that season. With eight games to go he left to take over as manager of Bristol City and as Burnley's form collapsed with Adrian Heath in sole charge, watched by Colin Harvey, Ward and City sneaked past us and into the play offs.

The year after he took the Bristol club to promotion which was confirmed the day before their game at Turf Moor where he came out to an incredible standing ovation.

Bristol City were the last club he managed and he left there in late 1998 and went to Wolves as number two shortly afterwards. Now it looks as though he will soon be on the look out for a manager's job away from Molineux.
