John Ward - interviewed by Clarets
Ward, who was assistant to Adrian Heath for much of the 1996/97 season before leaving to take over as manager of Bristol City, met the Burnley interview panel yesterday as the Clarets stepped up their search.

The interviews have all been held well away from Turf Moor and it is believed that they were all concluded today with a board meeting expected within the next twenty-four hours to confirm the first choice.

The club have been very guarded and it is difficult to ascertain just who has been interviewed but the names of Ward, Brian Flynn, Steve McMahon, Phil Brown and Steve Cotterill can be added to that of Ronnie Moore who is certain to be a favourite despite the suggestions from Millmoor.

We won’t have to wait long now and the club could unveil the new manager before the end of this week. If not then we can expect it to be Tuesday of next week.

The debate and speculation is almost over and then it will all start again with the new man having to bring in a number of new players.
