Walton is in charge at Birmingham

Last updated : 01 May 2010 By Tony Scholes
We have to go back over two years to the last time he refereed a Burnley game. That was in March 2008 and a home game against Wolves. We lost the game 3-1 and it proved to be a last Burnley appearance for goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly.

Walton has been one of the quieter referees this season. In 33 games he's handed out just 84 yellow cards alongside 6 red cards.

The first red card was in a Carling Cup tie between Manchester United and Wolves. He dismissed United's Fabio in a game they won 1-0. Bolton's JLloyd Samuel went in a 4-0 home reverse against Chelsea and Florent Malouda saw red in Chelsea's 0-0 draw at Birmingham.

Nani of Manchester United was next, in a 1-1 draw at Aston Villa and the more recent two were Ryan Shawcross of Stoke for the challenge that broke Aaron Ramsey's leg and finally Paul Connelly of Sheffield United in their 0-0 home draw against Barnsley.

Despite an increase in home bookings there is still very much a leaning towards the away players. Of those 84 yellow cards 32 have gone to home team players and 52 to away team players.

His last game was Liverpool's 3-0 win over West Ham at Anfield. He yellow carded two players that night; Julian Faubert and Radoslav Kovak (both West Ham).

The assistant referees are Rob Lewis (Shropshire) and Richard West (East Yorkshire). The fourth official is Nuneaton based referee Stuart Attwell who as the man in the middle the last time we were in Birmingham for our game at Aston Villa.
